Guided hike to Pedra Longa – Us Piggius

Perfect route to get a taste of Selvaggio Blu, a few steps from the town.

In about 5 hours this trail will take you to ascend a difference in altitude of more than 600 metres.

The path starts directly from the town of S. Maria Navarrese. Head towards the Bellavista Hostel and there take the path towards Pedra Longa. During this first stretch the difficulties are minimal and the difference in altitude is almost non-existent. A short stop is a must once we reach the famous monolith overlooking the sea: Pedra Longa welcomes us with its 128 m overlooking the sea. The path then resumes and takes us to the foot of the imposing wall of Punta Giradili, in the middle of the most beautiful stretch of Mediterranean scrub you have ever seen: the Forrola forest. In spring, you will have the opportunity to wade across the small Baus stream and wrap yourself in the yellow of broom and euphorbia. In summer you can cool off in the waters of the Forrola bay. Winter and autumn, with their milder temperatures, will strengthen your climb. Whatever season you choose, this route will allow you to enjoy the atmosphere of the Selvaggio Blu, even if only for a few hours.

The route can also be done downhill, depending on the preferences of the walkers.

Important information

Stone fields and uneven terrain characterize the second part of the route. Good trekking shoes are absolutely necessary!

Don’t forget to bring enough water, a packed lunch and your swimsuit: it is possible, by prior arrangement, to stop for a swim in Pedra Longa or Forrola!
